Nanon
Soeters calls herself 'Creative entrepreneur'. Nanon Soeters studied art history,
art policy & management, and interior styling, and is experienced in PR
and fund raising. She is the founder of I-orlando.
I-orlando’s concern is with today’s visual culture. I-orlando
addresses such questions as: How to transfer ideas by images? How to engraft
art upon a location, a situation? How to open up the worlds behind objects
of art to the public at large? How to create spaces in which people feel at
home?
I-orlando does the following:
- Gives advice on matters of culture to companies, authorities and private persons who commission works of art for public spaces, or are interested in applied art. I-orlando helps formulate commissions for objects of art, supervises their execution and delivery, and recommends ways to tap additional sources of money. Besides, I-orlando counsels cultural institutions or individual artists on matters of business;
- develops designs for business interiors;
- puts together exhibitions and plans their layout;
- organises manifestations, lectures and other activities;
- writes texts for various principals. The envisaged readers of such texts vary from colleagues to members of the public with wide cultural interests.
I-orlando always develops its projects from a thorough understanding of the way people shape their environment. Just because it is a small, one-person business, I-orlando relies on its ability to work together with several other parties. Indeed, Nanon Soeters can boast a wide network in the world of art, ranging from individual artists to art institutions and authorities.
At present Nanon Soeters is working on the following projects:
- the formulation of art commissions for the new housing estate Broekpolder: selecting artists and designs, supervising the commission;
- design of a cultural strategy for the new to be developed town quarter of Almere Poort;
- survey of remaining sites along the A9/N9 in co-operation with visual artist Jan Samsom, with a view to drawing up a typology to be submitted to artists with different approaches. A pilot project is to be launched to find out how individual artists can contribute to thinking about remaining sites.
